Chapter Seventeen: 016

And there you have it, the series is complete. It feels… bittersweet. THANK YOU for sticking around and reading. It means the absolute world to me. The Plume readership, hands down, is the funniest and sweetest people around. You guys are the best.

Now, even though this main story is wrapped, there will be one-shots and shorts on my Patreon, because I can’t completely let them go. If you’re interested, please consider supporting.

Again, thank you for reading. I love you all.

  • CptNerd

Well, it didn’t end the way I thought it would, from the way it started, but I have to say it did end very well indeed. Thank you for the story, I’ve followed it from almost the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what else you have in store!

    • plumecomic

      Thank you so much!

  • LizzywithaWhy

Followed for years. My heart is swelling. Thank you, K.

    • plumecomic

Thank you so much for the continued support!

  • Melynda Kiring

    A story well told!
It will always stay with me.
    Thank you so much. ♡♡

  • Carina Kern

Followed this story from the beginning. It’s sad to see it ending but at the same time, it makes me happy to have been a part of this. Love the ending! Thank you so much <3

  • kazali

Nooooo…I have so many questions! Are they still conscious while they’re inside the ring, bickering with each other until the end of time? Do they stay outside the ring for good once their “master” summons them, only returning to the ring when they die?

It’s a bittersweet ending, but it fits well with the story and the characters. They don’t have to be lonely anymore and the smoke is clear <3

  • rogue android

    Aw, geez, Rick…

Why is it that, while I’m sitting here recalling moments that stood out for me over the course of reading Plume, the one that keeps coming to the forefront of my mind is Corrick bathtime?

    Maybe I know why.

  • Claire Johnson

This story made laugh, it made me cry, it made me scream, “WHY GOD? WHY?” It’s really hard to say goodbye. This was such a wonderful story that you told, Lynn. I hope that you keep telling stories, Lynn, because you have talent. I loved the ending. 🙂

  • Charlotte

It’s always weird, when a webcomic ends.
You read it, one page at a time, in a loooong timespan -usually it takes years.
And through these years, the characters grow on you, you patiently wait for each page to find out what will happen next, and as time passes the comic becomes part of your daily/weekly routine. Something to come back to, something to be invested in.
So, when the comic ends, you always have these mixed feelings: you finally got to know how the story ends, but you’ll probably have no more of it.
It’s weird because you have to say goodbye to something that has been part of your life for years; the story developed, the characters grew along with you (it doesn’t matter if we’re adults, growth never ends), even the art evolved and bettered itself, and the comic artist matured. It’s like a bit of a journey, I’d say.

And now that this journey ended, now that Plume ended, I feel these mixed feelings.
But I want you to know that I enjoyed this ride, very much. I first started reading Plume years ago because I loved the artstyle, I stuck around for the story and now I’ll keep a special place in my heart for the characters I watched struggling, loving, hating, and in the end being happy.
Vesper and Corrick in particular will always make one of my favourite duos ever.

I enjoyed this last chapter, too. I love this ending that I didn’t fully anticipate, and I love the fact that Hunter passed the ring down to his descendants and made Vesper and Corrick part of the family, too.
The last page with the pictures on the wall must be my favourite -you know, since reading the end of Fullmetal Alchemist (the manga) years ago, I always get the feels when I see an ending with all these happy/family photos showing how the characters have been doing. So, double feels for me!

I’d love to read more about these two in the future, so I’m very happy to know you’ll write one shots and other stuff.
I’m also very interested in your next project. Count me in, ready to jump on a new rollercoaster!
But for now, thanks for the ride, K. Lynn! It has been really fun!

    • plumecomic

THIS! Thank you, Charlotte! Yes, it’s been an incredible journey! It is sad that it’s done, that the big adventure is over, but these characters will never go away for me. As long as you guys want it, there will be more. And there will be plenty of new stories and new comics too! Thank you again. <3

  • Found this comic via Ethan Kocak (BlackMudpuppy), and have been enjoying it for, wow, at least a couple of years now. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Congrats on finishing, and looking forward to whatever you do next!

  • Such a fitting ending to a great story! Thank you for taking us on this journey, K Lynn 🙂

  • Shannon Elyse Kelly

Wow. What a story. I’ll definitely be buying the physical copies.

I’ve been reading this webcomic since it started so long ago, and it was one of the first webcomics I really got into. Bittersweet is such an accurate description. I admired you when I was growing as an artist and honestly, this comic and your artwork pretty heavily impacted how my style has turned out. Congratulations on finishing this wonderful story, and thank you for your time 🙂

    • plumecomic

Thank YOU for YOUR time and for reading this silly little webcomic. I am honored. 🙂

  • Sollin Faolan

God, despite being together for eternity, imagine someone forgetting about the ring entirely and they just end up stuck inside it forEVER, like wow what a way to live…..

    • Alétheia

And then, centuries down the road when it’s dug up by archaeologists or re-discovered in a rotting attic or underneath abandoned floorboards, just when they’re starting to finally get used to how it is inside the ring when they aren’t summoned, when its new owner puts it on again… that’ll be fun~ 😛

  • MrTopHatMan

Well I’ve actually only seen 2 webcomics and and this is far more satisfying then the other one. Can I just say really good work on this comic, it was a nice story with a cool setting (and characters) I wish you the best if you ever start making anything else I’ll check in, thanks, see you space cowboy.

    • plumecomic

Thank YOU for reading! And for being apart of the adventure. 🙂

  • Max Adams

Noooo, I need more ;-; dammit

  • jazzmosis12

This was one of the first webcomics I’ve ever read. Thank you for such an amazing story, K! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

  • Sahara

WAT! It’s the end already! D:

Actually, this is a way more satisfying end then what I *thought* was the end, back when they both popped into the ring at the end of the fight. Definitely Bittersweet. I like the touch of having the many photographs on the wall with Corrick and Vesper in them.

  • Clémence

Ahh, that’s so bittersweet ! When I first read Plume, only chapter one or two were released ! I’ll miss Corrick and Vesper, even if I’m super satisfied with the ending. It fits your story so well, and at least they’re together in the end ! I hope to read more stories from you in the future 😀 !!

  • moonmean

    All the feels <3
Thank you for being a talented storyteller! I loved it, from the start to the end!

  • TheCatCameBack

GOSH. Thank you! Your art style is so beautiful and in six years of reading dozens of webcomics this is only the second one I’ve seen finished- so I laud that you had the courage and planning skill to end it as much as you did to write and draw it. The ending is so satisfying and I love how centralized the message is to the story. I’ll never forget these characters, and I need to go cry now because I won’t be seeing more of them every week. Thank you so much for making them! It’s been a journey. Also: does this mean they’re married now? What does modern science have to say about two immortal beings created with a spell book?

    • plumecomic

Haha, no marriage. …. yet? 😉

  • Mac Sebi

I discovered your work a few day ago and read it on a single day. Great job! I hope to read more of those two. That’s why I support you on Patreon 🙂

    Greetings from Germany

    • plumecomic

Thank you so much! Truly! 🙂

  • Tyler Shelton

You did it! Congratulations! I loved it!

  • tinwatchman

    😀 Very nice. Well done.

  • KeevaTheFirstRival .

Desperate for epilogue. Plz plz plz

  • jsfury

And so it goes. I wish the very best K. Lynn.

  • Thanks for the adventure 🙂

  • Matt [in Middletown]

Corrick’s attempts to master kitchen appliances would be interesting to see.

  • I’m just so happy the end is more of a beginning. I joked about that last panel, but I like that it ended in a way that we could imagine it going on and on. Lovely work!

  • Katie

This is *so* bittersweet. I’ve been following this comic since it’s first few pages, eagerly awaiting each update. This webcomic has shaped me a little, as each thing I read does. I will forever have a love of gold revolvers and circular gold pendants. Not to mention Corrick, Vesper, and the rest of our gang 😉

This ending is perfect, in a way I didn’t expect. I especially love that Hunter made Vesper and Corrick part of his family! When David puts on that ring, in a way it’ll be like seeing family again.

K Lynn you have been such an amazing artist and author, and so wonderful interacting with your fans. Thank you.

    • plumecomic

Much love back to you, Katie. Thank you!

  • Ada

Funeral and a finale at http://www.ancestry.plume
looking forward to any new projects, revenge related, or not
glad I found this webcomic on a lark of a link, a spell back

  • Lady Philyra

Thank you so much for this wonderful story! This is one of my very favorite webcomic stories – right up there with Digger and Archipelago.

  • gib

Definitely a bittersweet feeling. Been following since the early pages on the first chapter. Can’t even remember how I found this comic but it became one I regularly checked for updates, along with Der-shing’s The Meek and Jake Wyatt’s Necropolis. K. Lynn, awesome work on writing such a riveting story with memorable characters (I’m going to miss Vesper and Corrick so much … )! Thank you for sticking through it, and I’ll look forward to what you have in store for us next! 🙂

  • Patmoose

Wonderful story. I’m kinda speechless right now, and I don’t know whether to feel happy or sad, but thank you so much for creating Plume. It was a joy to read.

  • Apple

So sweet! I just found and read this and it was a beautiful story. Thank you for giving it a voice!

  • Zem

AMAZING end to an amazing comic!
I love how we ended with the quote we started with
cant wait to go back and reread the whole thing in one big binge! <3
    hopefully as a physical version!

  • Wyvern Phoxx (와이번)

Honeslty, I didn’t have a favorite character. Everyone was my favorite, even the horses.

    This also made Hunter, who came later in the comic, such a special character all of a sudden. I love how you can do that with a character. Good job on this story. 10/10 ;-;

  • Goldenheart06

I haven’t read in a while, and when I come back to it, it’s over. I never commented, but I’ve been here since very early on and I’m sad to be at the end. It was great going on this adventure with the gang, and I hope you continue to make other stories that we can love to read, laugh and cry about.
